AC/DC to Rock Kelvingrove
September 2011 - January 2012
Rock legends AC/DC are returning to Glasgow - but this time it is just for an exhibition at Kelvingrove Art Gallery. On view will be around 450 items linked to the Australian band that boasts a huge following in Scotland due to band members' tartan roots.
This will be the first time the exhibition has left Australia and Kelvingrove is its only European date.
Items on show will include a leather jacket once owned by late singer Bon Scott and handwritten lyrics to classic song "Highway to Hell".
It will also feature an early version of axe hero Angus Young's signature schoolboy outfit, one of his guitars and the AC/DC stage-show cannon.
Brothers Angus and Malcolm Young were born in Glasgow before their family emigrated to Australia. And the hard rock combo's late singer, Bon Scott, hailed from Kirriemuir before he moved Down Under as a boy.
George Redmond, councillor and chairman of Glasgow Life, which runs the city’s museums and galleries, told the Herald: “Our policy has always been to try and engage new audiences with Kelvingrove whenever we can and AC/DC’s enormous popularity and well-known links to Scotland will continue that tradition.”

Glasgow Boys Glasgow Boys Watercolours on display now
Until April 2012, visitors to Kelvingrove can enjoy a display of watercolours by members of the Glasgow Boys, the group that are the subject of a new permanent gallery at Kelvingrove. This separate, smaller display, which is open now in the Fragile Art gallery, showcases some of the outstanding works on paper produced by some of the Boys including Arthur Melville, generally considered the most inspirational watercolour painter in the group.
These pieces are very delicate and cannot be on public display for longer than a few months at a time – so make sure you see them while you can!

Scott Macdonald
An Exhibition of Photographs at ifullcoffee
531 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.
Scott Macdonald was brought up in the village of Eaglesham on the southside of Glasgow and now lives in milngavie on the north side of Glasgow he is a musician who frequently travels the highlands and islands of Scotland playing music.
"Two years ago I began taking photographs as I travelled around the Highlands and Islands on the west coast of Scotland while playing gigs. I have always had an immense passion for the Highlands and Islands, maybe its because my Grandfather comes from Skye? who knows! but one thing for sure is that I have always been pulled there. I had no intensions of becoming a photographer it just happened, I love these places so much I felt I had to capture these memories. I hope you like the pictures."

Patricia Cain - 'Building the Riverside Museum'
One of the driving forces behind The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Patricia Cain, has been awarded this year's £25,000 Threadneedle Prize for her painting Building the Riverside Museum which features the building under construction.
Patricia's work was chosen from a shortlist of seven which included three Scottish artists, by selectors Xavier Bray, Assistant Curator at the National Gallery, David Rayson, Professor of Painting at the Royal College of Art and Michael Sandle RA, Fellow of the Royal British Society of Sculptors.
Earlier this year, Patricia, who lives and works in Glasgow, won the Aspect Prize 2009/10. Patricia trained as a lawyer before becoming a full-time artist in 2004, going on to complete her PhD at Glasgow School of Art. Her work is focused largely on the regeneration of Glasgow, and Building the Riverside Museum explores the physical construction of the Glasgow Riverside Museum of Transport, designed by architect Zaha Hadid.

Born in Derry, N.Ireland and currently living in Scotland, John Deery has always had a passion for Art and takes it with him wherever he goes. He enjoys working in a variety of media, from watercolour to oils, although most of my work now features acrylic paint and mixed media. His passion for travel and adventure has given John a love of landscapes, and the world's ever changing and wildly varied surfaces are the focus of much of his work. He currently paints, plays music and works as an art teacher in Glasgow.
