Origins – art exhibition Willie Sutherland
4 March until 1 April, 2023
Beacon Arts Centre, Custom House Quay, Greenock PA15 1HG – free admission
‘I believe that the act of making is an expression of the self and that each piece if a self portrait, creating is my way of saying “look at me I exist”. I continue trying to work out who I am by taking half formed memories and reimagining the scene looking in, the fact that they are mainly faceless shows that I am still a work in progress.’ – Willie Sutherland

Portrait of the Artist as a Cowboy
Acrylic on canvas 2021
Based on a photograph of Willie taken on Christmas morning and his core belief that his work is to please his own and others inner child.
