Shona enjoys creating rings for special events, particularly wedding rings. She’ll be very happy to discuss with you any ideas you may have in mind. Why not commission something just for you.

Shona Macaulay Fidgett has developed her own personal style in producing her wonderful bold modern jewellery and her collections are in demand by quality jewellers throughout the UK and in her home town of Glasgow. Her rings, bangles, earrings, necklaces and pendants can be bought at the Roger Bilcliffe Gallery in Blythswood Street or Orro Contemporary Jewellery.
However, many people prefer to buy a uniquely handcrafted piece of jewellery, where their own ideas can be incorporated into the design, and Shona is available for commissions. So if you have an idea in mind she will discuss this with you and then create something absolutely unique.
Shona enjoys creating rings for special events, particularly wedding rings. For such commissions she feels that a full consultation with the couple is essential as this allows her to ascertain the feasibility of the project. This also provides an opportunity to find out something about her clients – because inspiration for her designs will partly arise from their personality and style.
She views the task of designing wedding rings as a real challenge, demanding care and attention to detail:
‘I am creating the symbol of a couple’s wish to remain together forever’
She ensures that you receive the highest quality craftsmanship, excellence in design and value for money – regardless of your budget.
Wedding and Engagememt Rings
Shona has five ranges of engagement rings: The Collet, Halo, Parallel, Puzzle and Two-Tone ranges, allowing customers to view a choice of styles with many of the designs available in different precious metals or with variations in the size of stone.
These rings are available to buy now and my website includes price information for each design and variation. Each range either has its own unique setting for the stone (Halo, Collet and Parallel), or has a striking visual style (Two-tone and Puzzle, with its interlocking bands).
If a customer has a desire for a particular stone or favours a type of precious band, then they can use the information on these new ranges to evolve their own idea of the ideal engagement ring, whilst also understanding the level of budget required for such a bespoke item.
Shona has been busy with private commissions. Recently an increasing number of people have been interested in a more personalised symbol of their partnership, rather than simply selecting a piece of mass-produced work. She enjoys working with clients to develop their ideas for wedding or engagement rings and this collaborative process merges her own style with the individual wishes of the clients, resulting in in a very personal and unique piece of jewellery.
Shona loves to take her show out on the road and has been exhibiting her work at Dazzle since !999, travelling to their exhibitions in London, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Dazzle is the acclaimed jewellery exhibition which showcases the work of the best young designers in the UK and beyond. Here she gets to rub shoulders with the crème de la crème of jewellery designers and attract discerning customers. Past customers at Dazzle include JK Rowling, Mick Jagger and Whoopi Goldberg.
However, all the hard work takes place in her small design studio, in Glasgow West End, at The Hidden Lane,, a most suitable location for Shona to design all her handcrafted jewellery. The location includes a vibrant mix of workshops where other artists and artisans craft their wares in this quaint corner of the city.
Her dedication in gaining skills and qualifications is impressive and she has built a very solid knowledge of technique and understanding of design. Shona graduated with a first class degree from Dundee Art School and has also studied her craft at Glasgow School of Art, Cardonald College and San Diego State University. Her teachers have included internationally acclaimed artists including Arline Fisch and Helen Shirk and her extensive studies have included a strong interest in acquiring international approaches to jewellery design.
You will love her bold and simple geometric silver pieces with their clean lines and her use of 18 ct gold in creating ‘precious detailing’. Among her collections there are also some beautifully fluid pendants and earrings with fascinating moving circles and quirky ‘puzzle rings’ with diamonds, necklaces with bold contemporary features or simple silver bangles or bracelets with contemporary subtle details.
You can see Shona’s wide range of designer jewellery and purchase online or contact Shona if you want to commission her to create a piece of jewellery that will be truly individual – and an exact fit.
She will be delighted to discuss your ideas and marry her skills and inspiration to your ideas.
It usually takes four to six weeks to design and craft wedding rings, whilst other commissions can be dealt with more quickly please make sure to get in touch in good time with any commissions.
