Songwriting Workshop 2 – Tutor Francis Macdonald

Centre for Open Studies, Songwriting Workshop 2 will be taught by Francis Macdonald, who drums with Teenage Fanclub and manages Camera Obscura and the Vaselines. It is for people who write songs; want to write songs or who would just like to discuss songs and songwriting. There will be songwriting exercises; discussions of favourite songs – how and why we feel they work; the importance of production and arrangement and the difference between writers and performers. There will also be information about how songwriters get paid. In addition, guest speakers will discuss how they go about writing songs. This course is suitable for new students and those who took Songwriting Workshop 1.
