The West End has a great range of card and gift shops. These are some of my favourites:

Owen Bisset’s wonderful glass jewellery can be found in his beautiful gift boutique in Partick. The attractive shop with its stunning range of well priced and carefully selected jewellery, gifts and home accessories is well situated in this vibrant part of the West End.

The shop looks amazing and has a very friendly atmosphere just crying out for a very enjoyable browse. I spent a wonderful half hour having a look around but that wasn’t enough, when I got the opportunity I popped back in later in the day.

I challenge anyone to leave empty handed – I bought some wonderful, emerald green and turquoise glass earrings designed by Owen and have my eye on the very stylish long chain necklaces in lovely summer hues.

Gallery and Gifts

Christo’s Glasgow has created a very bright spot on Great Western Road and gallery owner Louise Burns has brought together a fine selection of original art by artists based in Scotland.

Careful and enthusiastic in sourcing items for the gallery, Louise has been successful in putting together a selection ‘that should appeal to most tastes’ and you can find work by newcomers and established artists hanging side by side. Decidedly, she is achieving her aim to showcase some of the best of Scottish talent with many excellent works for you to select from.

Nancy Smillie also in 53 Cresswell Lane, (334 4240) is one of the better known designers with a great range in ceramics. This is a lovely shop with a small gallery attached selling paintings and furniture. The shop is really interesting and very tasteful. Read the full feature

Attracted by a beautiful window display with a range of enticing products, whilst coincidentally shopping for some birthday presents, I found myself browsing and buying in La Coco. Within the space of a few weeks I had returned three times and I’m delighted to have come across this wonderful little shop prior to starting some serious Christmas shopping. With a selection of stylish jewellery, scarves, novelties, beautiful cards and gifts for all the family – it is a true treasure trove.

Another shop with high quality cards,gifts and a huge range of Belgian Chocolates in the West End is SPOILED FOR CHOICE, 399 Dumbarton Road near the Rail / Bus Terminal.

I thought it was strange that you have no included Cassiopeia which is a great wee shop in Hyndland Road. Their website is http://cassiopeiaonline.co.uk which give a great flavour of what they offer.

Just been to visit glasgow and was looking for gifts. Went to some of your suggestions but cannot believe you left out one I discovered. Galletly and Tubbs in Great Western Road. It is worth taking a look as it's better than any you have suggested.
