Book Launch: Celine’s Salon – The Anthology

Celebrating the grand book launch of Celine’s Salon The Anthology – Vol 2!! Expect poetry, comedy, performance and wonder as La Celine guides you on a fantastical journey at Time Event Space.
Music, poetry, storytelling and comedy from: CELINE HISPICHE, JO D’ARC, LESLEY O’BRIEN, FRANK RAFFERTY and DOCTUR NORMUL!
Published by the innovative Wordville Press, this second volume explores works from celtic artists. Come celebrate and experience some of these pieces live, meet the poets and enjoying the music, merriment and madness in spades.
Performers
JO D’ARC
Jo D’arc is a popular musician, producer/DJ, artist and writer currently based in Glasgow where she is also a passionate community worker and activist. She has performed across the world in various artistic guises while remaining rooted in her Scottish home.
Jo performs as one half of art/punk band The Twistettes and is bassist in Girobabies. She is producer and singer of experimental electronic act Minerva Wakes. Jo published her first poetry pamphlet ‘Minerva and the Whir’ with Wordville Press in 2020.
FRANK RAFFERTY
Frank Rafferty is a spoken word artist, performance poet, writer and occasional stand-up comedian. Originally from Glasgow, he currently resides in Derry, in the North of Ireland. He curates a regular spoken word slot for BBC Radio Foyle’s Mark Patterson show, performs throughout the UK and Ireland at a variety of venues and festivals & currently hosts a number of spoken word and performance events. During lockdown he has also recorded a series of Spoken Word and Music tracks with Glasgow’s own The Dead Thatchers & also with Derry Dance Producer & DJ Louise Da Costa.
LESLEY O’BRIEN
Inspiring, magical, and healing, are words that have been used to describe Lesley’s storytelling, poetry and music.
In 2015 Lesley formed the band ‘Kittlin’, an all female line up with fiddle, flute, accordion and guitar, singing original material inspired by traditional folktales and the people and landscape of Scotland. Lesley is also regularly seen on stage in Glasgow with the Carlton Jug Band.
DOCTUR NORMUL
Doctur Normul qualified on the clyde-drenched cobblestones of the gallowgate an nothin is a story she won’t tell. She makes bluesy folk punk vocals mostly over guitar.
CELINE HISPICHE
Celine Hispiche is a London-based writer and performer whose monthly show on Totally Wired Radio celebrates diverse writing and performance. She spent three years in New York, performing stand-up comedy, returning to the UK to develop a variety of musicals and productions, performing at events and festivals around the country and across the world.
Celine devised Celine’s Salon to create a platform that nurtures new and established artists and offers the audience an entertaining and enlightening experience.
