Dumbuck to Chile, 250 years on . . . . ” – an unusual and surprising link that connects an extraordinary series of highly successful changes to the navigation of the River Clyde in the 18th century (thereby depriving Dumbarton of a financial superiority over Glasgow) and the stunning rescue of 33 miners trapped for weeks half-a-mile underground at the San Jose copper and gold mine in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile in 2010. How CAN they be connected . . . . . ?
