May’s monthly featured showcase at the Glasgow Literary Lounge with poet and musician, David Nicoll who recently returned to Scotland after living in South Africa for more than thirty-six years. Nicoll will be launching his new publication, Thoughts & Reflections Volume 3, (Amazon KDP, 2019). In his third collection, Nicoll discusses and explores the challenges of South African history, mankind, wildlife, and his ancestry. In the varied themes he writes about, Nicoll blends photographs, illustrations, and music to complement his work. Nicoll also writes POKEs POetic joKEs, and song lyrics. He will be reading from this new volume and discussing the connections between poetry and song. Nicoll’s books and CD’s will be available for sale.

BIO: David Nicoll was inducted as an International Poet of Merit with the International Society of Poetry in America in 1997. His poetry has been published in South African and a variety of magazines and newspapers, and he was listed in the International Who’s Who of Poetry in 2012. He has released a number of poetry books and CDs mixing poetry with music. All of his CDs were recorded and produced in South Africa. For more information on David Nicoll: www.davidnicoll.co.uk

Nicoll’s discussion will be followed by an Open Mic – Speakeasy Style. Calling all Creatives, we’re celebrating Amnesty International Day to recognise the need to protect human rights around the world. ‘Write for Rights’ is an annual campaign to achieve justice through writing a message of hope. Bring us your messages to share, to pressure authorities, and support individuals in their search for justice This is open to interpretation.
