In 2016 Horsecross Arts commissioned contemporary artists Su Grierson, Brian Hartley and Katrina McPherson to create new artists’ films in response to the archive of pioneering artist and choreographer Margaret Morris (1891-1980). The Work Room is hosting this screening of the films with an introduction by Movement co-curator Iliyana Nedkova (Creative Director of Contemporary Art, Horsecross Arts) and followed by a panel discussion with the artists chaired by Ben Harman (Director, Stills Gallery) exploring movement in film, archive and the cultural legacy of Margaret Morris.
Movement was commissioned by Horsecross Arts, Perth, in partnership with Moray House School of Education, University of Edinburgh, Margaret Morris Movement International and The Fergusson Gallery, Perth. It was funded by Creative Scotland.
