Woodlands Community Garden Meeting

GARDEN MEETING
SUNDAY MAY 5th at 2pm (at the community garden)
West Princes Street

Find out about our plans and how you can get involved

We’ve had some recent good news on the funding front, so have plenty of activities and events that will be taking place over the coming months …. deep breath
– we will be restarting our Bio-diverse programme of nature walks, cycle trips, nature clubs for children and nature themed activities for older people
– running some spoken word classes and events linked to reconnecting people to nature
– expanding our work with families with young children, including creating a children’s zone at the garden, running nature toddles and family food days
– running art workshops and events, at the garden and our new gap site, with a sculpture show being lined up for the beginning of June
– organising a big summer social, taking place on Sunday 16th June with a community big lunch and lots of environmentally themed activities
– helping organise a food and social justice event along with other members of Glasgow Local Food Network, aimed at linking local food projects with those working with people
affected by cuts in welfare (provisional date 20 June)

We are also developing plans to
– expand the garden’s use as a training venue by external organisations
– recruit and support more volunteers from Black and Minority Ethnic Backgrounds
– set up a Woodlands Skills Exchange Network
as well as fundraising for a new project which will allow us to address issues relating to food poverty through creating food and social hubs

So join us on May 5th to find out how you can get involved.
