Pippa Goldschmidt launches acclaimed new story collection
Pippa Goldschmidt, author of the award-winning and best-selling The Falling Sky, is launching her new story collection with a science theme, The Need for Better Regulation in Outer Space, in Edinburgh and Glasgow next week. Join us if you can!
The List has praised the book, saying ‘Goldschmidt’s prose is endlessly inventive, blurring the lines between science, the surreal and the absurd.’ The Independent on Sunday said, ‘Clever and compassionate, funny and bittersweet, inventive and heartfelt, it’s a real discovery,’ while its sister paper the Independent said it ‘wisely shuns polymath pyrotechnics for a witty blend of history, compassion and poetic passages about neutrinos, space and beyond’. The stories have already been longlisted for the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award.
As part of the Glasgow Science Festival on Wed 10th June Pippa will read from The Need for Better Regulation of Outer Space and discuss writing about Science with Prof Martin Hendry from Glasgow University at Mono, King’s Court, Glasgow, while Pippa will also be launching the book at Looking Glass Books, Edinburgh the following day.
