Masters of the folk-pop groove, this Glasgow four-piece are back with bright and breezy tunes to fill your summer. Chill out to the laid back harmonies of “Breathe” or stomp your feet to the rip roaring “Breaking the Ice”. (See http//youtu.be/So4Ec6Z093w). It appears a few pirates have joined the good ship Magic Lantern since last time out.
BELMONDO
Tiff Griffin is the creative force behind Belmondo, who are based in Glasgow. Acoustic guitar picking melts with lushly expansive arrangements, gorgeous strings and Griffin’s melancholy vocals, calling to mind Calexico, Scott Walker and King Creosote, while still sounding wholly individual. The end of 2012 saw the self-release of his debut EP, ‘Dressed Up for a Letdown’ .The space and atmosphere created by his music is captivating, creating a beautiful and eerily elegant feeling of emptiness, like walking deserted city streets at 5am.
BRAWTH
Originally a duo, Brawth are now a soup-ergroup; brandishing their highly original blend of dark and mellow alt-folk and delighting audiences live.

PELTS
Pelts is a brand new band from Glasgow, featuring members from previous and co-existing bands including The Recovery Club, Betatone Distraction and The Ocean Floor. They make a big joyful noise, with a little sinister darkness seeping in around the edges. You may detect flavours of bands such as Low and The Delgados, but you’d be wrong.
JAMIE FLETT
Jamie Flett released his second full-length album ‘Takes From The Cuckoo’s Nest’ on Big Rock Candy Records in October 2012 and recently played support slots for Joan Armatrading and Malcolm Middleton (Arab Strap.)
He self-released his first album ‘Cold But Bright’ in 2009 and since then has been on the bill at Glasgow City Halls for an evening with ‘Three Of The Best’ emerging songwriters and was chosen as one of the two runners-up at Glasgow live music institution King Tut’s ‘YourSound’ industry event for new music and bands. He has also appeared on the Danny Kyle stage at Celtic Connections, played at venues like Oran Mor, Nice and Sleazy’s and Stereo in Glasgow as well as the West End and South Side Festivals and the Tartan Heart festival at Belladrum.
ALAN FREW
Born in Dreghorn Alan grew up in a musical home with both his younger sisters playing piano/violin and his father Ian a singer songwriter himself was to be an early inspiration Enjoying moderate success between 2003-2006 with Scottish bands The Kytes and Southbeach he went on to perform on National T.V and Radio before playing support to a various number of acts including Paolo Nutinin, Texas and Lucie Silvas.
