Adrian Searle and David Barbour: Look Up Glasgow
6 Apr 2014 • 3:00 P.M – 4:00 P.M • Mitchell Library
Look Up Glasgow shines a light on the ornaments, statues and decorations hidden in plain sight above eye level.
Not just a handy reference guide, now in a pocket format, in which you can look up favourite pieces of Glasgow’s architecture, this is also a plea to “look up” – to see the ornaments and friezes, the statues and decorations most of which are hidden in plain sight above eye level. Also featuring new work from six Scottish poets, this book helps you to see the city anew, and appreciate the virtuoso craftsmanship of the buildings. Bring along your own hidden gems of the city!
Hertfordshire born Adrian Searle has been art critic for the Guardian since 1996. Trained as a painter, he began writing in 1976 and contributes to art magazines and journals. He has curated several exhibitions in the UK, Europe and the USA and was a Turner Prize juror in 2004
