A Tree Grows in Glasgow: the story of the Argyle Street ash
The Argyle Street Ash, UK Tree of the Year 2025, has stood through generations of change in Glasgow.
Join David Treanor of Tree Wise for a talk about the tree’s story, its place in the city, and what it might help us notice about the trees in our own neighbourhoods.
On behalf of the Glasgow Tree Lovers’ Society and the Friends of Glasgow Botanic Gardens.
Please share, and bring someone who loves Glasgow’s trees.
Sounds like a very interesting event. Made me remember Ali Abbasi – the very popular Scottish Travel Desk presenter who died in 2004. I first heard of ‘the big tree’ when Ali told me he was brought up in the close beside it.
