Introduction to creative writing: the short story

In this introductory course students will study the short story form, looking atstructural aspects and techniques from a writer’s perspective in order to help
develop their own writing. The course will include writing in class, using exercises and prompts. We will also read published work to better understand narrative techniques. Each week students’ own fiction will be discussed in a supportive environment. During the course students
will have the opportunity to complete a portfolio of original writing.
