Born in the USA

Photo: burger. It may well serve the best "full Scottish" breakfast in the West End, but the owner of the newly-launched New York Kitchen in Thornwood reckons it's the venue's classic Yankee version - The New Yorker Breakfast that is the real deal, complete with hash browns, French toast and maple syrup. Also on the menu are Eggs Benedict and many other US favourites - already proving to be most popular with early-day customers looking for both top quality and typically American-style generous portions.

The choices available on the breakfast menu alone are an obvious sign that NY Kitchen is no mere themed venture but a bold attempt to bring the authentic US dining experience to the heart of the West End's most exciting up and coming restaurants area.

"The best burger in Glasgow"is just one of the many treats diners can expect in this dynamic red, white and blue evocation of everything that's wonderful about fabulous New York-style fare - with a wide-ranging menu of tasty delights centred on time-honoured favourites such as spaghetti and meatballs, Reuben sandwich on rye and sumptuous rib-eye steak.

Photo: milkshakes. Quench your thirst with tantalising milkshakes. You can even have a drop of bourbon added for some extra zing.

However these are just some of the headline eye-catchers from a busy kitchen whose talented staff, led by enterprising head chef Ian Hoey, seem determined to push the limits of what can reasonably be expected of a mainstream diner.

There's plenty of New York imagery to enjoy in the snazzily attractive interior, along with the sort of background music which shows the staff enjoy legendary American sounds, but it's the quality of the cuisine - because there's nothing "ordinary" about the food on offer here - which promises to set this sizzlingly-hot new venture apart from more humdrum competition.
