Byres Road Book Festival – George Paterson & David Ross at Waterstones

Saturday 24 Sep 2022 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Waterstones 351 – 355 Byres Road, G12 8QZ
George Paterson is a writer, DJ and musician from Glasgow’s Southside who, as a member of the bands, White and DMP, released a number of well-received albums on the Poco Alto Label. His work can be found in a number of independent feature length and short films as well as providing the musical backdrop to the London stage production of the play, ‘ISM’.
After decades away, George returned to his native Scotland in 2017 with a renewed sense of purpose and a head full of tales to tell, splitting his focus between the spoken word – his popular weekly ‘Lost in Music’ radio show – and the written, with articles appearing in a number of online publications before finding a home as a regular features writer and reviewer for the Into Creative website. A site which gives a platform to writers, artists, playwrights and musicians.
His debut novel, ‘The Girl, The Crow, The Writer and the Fighter’ was published in October 2021 to critical acclaim.
George is currently working on two separate, stand alone novels; ‘Westerwick’, a modern gothic chiller rooted in Glasgow’s West End and the fictional island of the title and ‘Anouk’, an adventurous dark comedy set in the cool but dangerous world of European cinema in the 1960’s.
Joining George will be David Ross whose books include: The Last Days of Disco (2014), . The Rise and Fall of the Miraculous Vespas (2015)
and The Man Who Loved Islands (2017) David was born in Glasgow but lives in Kilmarnock. He studied architecture at Glasgow School of Art and is now the Design Director of one of Scotlands oldest and most successful practices, Keppie Design.
George and David will be talking about their books, the sounds and places that have inspired them and if you’re lucky, you’ll get tips on how to rock the grey and sexy look.
