Drop down or pop into the atrium at ARC for the next in the series of ARC Conversations, where researchers will share insights and challenges from their research journey and explore the impact of collaboration and innovation on their work.

ARC Conversations are designed to be understood by people from other disciplines, so stay and chat with colleagues and make new connections over drinks and nibbles to share knowledge, spark new ideas and discover common interests.

Programme:

Making ideas fly like bicycles: Tim Peacock, Lecturer in History/War Studies and Director of UofGGamesLab, talks about experiences of creative cross-college and external collaborations. From nuclear crisis simulations to a St Giles’ Cathedral video game, varied motivations, memories, and methods combine in Tim’s ongoing journey, researching approaches to global challenges.

About Tim Peacock

Dr Timothy Noël Peacock is a Lecturer in History and War Studies, and Director/co-founder of the University of Glasgow Games and Gaming Lab (UofGGamesLab). He leads up to 35 researchers, interns and software programmers as Principal Investigator for interlocking funded research and educational cross-disciplinary innovation projects. His research ranges across nuclear history, space security, games and wargaming, to AI and politics, including socio-political and military impacts of new technologies (from Serious Games on Solar Storm impacts to articles on meme-based warfare). He has worked with organisations from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to St Giles’ Cathedral. He has received University Teaching Excellence Awards and the Royal Historical Society’s UK-wide ‘Innovation in Teaching Award’. Outside of work, he enjoys singing (including as a charity concert soloist), video games (for relaxation!), and making stop motion animated films.
