Creative Conversations: Deborah Moffatt

Deborah Moffatt is a poet who writes in English and in Gaelic. Her most recent collections are “Eating Thistles” (Smokestack Books, 2019) and “Dàin nan Dùil” (Clàr, 2019). She also writes fiction, and her short stories have been published by Bloomsbury, Faber, HarperCollins and Virago
Deborah was born and raised in Vermont, USA, and has lived in Scotland, mostly in North East Fife, since 1982. She has a BA in Communications and Spanish from the University of Washington and an MSc. Communications from Boston University, and has worked as a journalist, as a musician, and as a dancer.

Creative Conversations is funded by the Ferguson Bequest. Professor Thomas Ferguson (1900-1977), Henry Mechan Chair of Public Health (1944-64), bequeathed his estate to the University, with the instruction that the money should be used to foster the social side of University life.
