April 1915 saw a mass organized protest of more than 30,000 Glaswegian tenants, as they refused to pay the crippling increases imposed on them by their landlords. At the forefront of these peaceful demonstrations were the working class women of Glasgow who found their voice through inspirational characters like Mary Barbour.

One hundred years later, the former Glasgow M.P. Maria Fyfe, now chair of The Remember Mary Barbour Association talks about the political inspiration these women provided and J. David Simons tells us why he was moved to write a novel based on the characters and events of 1915.

Chaired by Prof Willy Maley.
