Cult director Abel Ferrara’s latest features a towering portrait of debauchery from Gérard Depardieu as the ‘fictional’ Mr Devereaux, based on French financier and one-time presidential candidate Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who both controls the financial fate of nations whilst losing himself to the most base desires. Ferrara’s bold and uncompromising lens captures the depths of Mr Devereaux’s depravity, before following his downfall as he travels to New York and is indicted for sexually assaulting a maid. One of the most talked about films of this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
