Women’s Suffrage Exhibition, Govanhill Baths

9- 20 March, 2019
A multimedia exhibition exploring the demographic of Govanhill at that time, including the Irish, Jewish and Italian communities and the jobs working class women would have been employed in. Creative reflections on suffragettes locally, nationally and internationally, examining the importance of: direct action; law breaking; the treatment of suffragettes; links with other social justice campaigns; self-defence, including the martial art jiu-jitsu; and, how the bicycle became a symbol of women’s emancipation.
