Glasgow Steiner School WINTER FAYRE

Saturday 3rd December 2011: 11am-4pm

The Steiner School annual Winter Fayre promises something different from the usual school offerings at this time of year.

  • Meet King Winter and hear his (or her?) tales of ages past;
  • Encounter the Pocket Lady with her voluminous cloak and a treat for all;
  • Enter the Secret Shoppe which only admits those under 1metre in height ;
  • Attend a puppet show and listen for the lyre;
  • Feast on scrumptious cakes in the Vintage Tea-room or try something hearty and wholesome in the international cafe.
  • All this, plus one of the best hand-made and fair-trade craft bazaars in the West End.

Glasgow Steiner school is one of over 90 Steiner education establishments in the UK, offering an alternative approach to learning for children from 3-12years. Started in Germany in the 1930s, Steiner pedagogy recognises the child's natural developmental process and uses this to guide both the content and style of learning experience. Each child is valued as an individual and encouraged to develop to their fullest potential, unhindered by linear curricula or rigid targets.

With French and German taught from the age of 6 and a rich creative and musical element, this integrated approach to learning and teaching really does educate Head, Hand and Heart and sends forth children who love life and love learning.
