The Red Turtle, GFT, 26 May – 1 June, 2017

The latest film from acclaimed Japanese animation giant Studio Ghibli is their first to enlist international animators, being directed and co-written by Oscar-winning Dutch animator Michaël Dudok de Wit (Father and Daughter). This enchanting story of a castaway who befriends an enormous sea turtle is completely dialogue-free – another first for Ghibli. Nominated for Best Animated Feature at this year’s Oscars, the film explores the freedom of isolation and the emotion of companionship in the classic style of Ghibli’s finest works.
