Have a Nice Day GFT
2 – 5 April, 2018
A hard rain is about to fall on a small town in Southern China. In a desperate attempt to find money to save his fiancée’s failed plastic surgery, Xiao Zhang, a mere driver, steals a bag containing 1 million from his boss. News of the robbery spreads fast within the town and, over the course of one night, everyone starts looking for Xiao and his money in this whirlwind neo-noir. With meticulous line-work and muted solid colours, Liu Jian’s second feature is a pioneering slice of independent Chinese animation. Specially commissioned programme notes will be available. The Mon 2 April (18.15) screening will be introduced by Alistair Harkness as part of the Contemporary Cinema Course.
