An Aye Write Event – Free to all
Scottish PEN, in conjunction with the Scottish Writers’ Centre aim to honour absent friends, and commemorate the courage of writers, poets, and journalists living and working in Mexico, one of the most dangerous countries in the world when it comes to freedom of expression.
Readings will be from the works of Mexican writers, followed by an open mic.

Open Mic
Submissions are sought for the Open Mic with the theme: ‘Mexico or Courage In Speaking out.’ This is open to interpretation. If you would like to read and share with our audience, please send your submissions to Jean Rafferty, journalist and writer, who’ll be hosting the evening
Jean Rafferty is an award winning journalist and author of The Four Marys, Saraband Books (2014), and Myra, Beyond Saddleworth , Wild Wolf Publishing (2012). Jean is passionately committed to freedom of expression and is Chair of Scottish PEN’s Writers in Prison Committee, (WIPC) who campaign for imprisoned and persecuted writers.
