4 Apr 2014 • 7:30 P.M – 8:30 P.M •
Mitchell Library, North St, Glasgow G3 7DN
Two novelists whose work often talks about what it is to be a man come together.
Widely praised by writers such as Catherine O’Flynn and D B C Pierre, Luke Brown’s debut novel, My Biggest Lie, looks at the consequences of falsehood and how difficult it is to tell the truth. A night out in London sees Liam lose his job, girlfriend and home, and leads him to writing the world’s most sincere love letter. Playwright, novelist and political provocateur Alan Bissett never fails to entertain, while asking big questions about modern masculinity. He reads from a dramatic work-in-progress about Graham Souness.
Luke Brown grew up near Blackpool, Lancashire, and now lives in Birmingham. My Biggest Lie is his first novel.
Falkirk born, Aye Write favourite Alan Bissett’s first novel, Boyracers, was published in 2001. He followed this with The Incredible Adam Spark before moving to Glasgow from Leeds to teach Creative Writing. Since taking up writing full time he has published novels and plays including Death of a Ladies Man and The Ching Room as well as documentaries and live shows.
