Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd August and Sunday 23rd 2009
It's reckoned that Moniaive has more musical events and festivals (per head of population) than anywhere else in Scotland. A spectacularly picturesque village located in Dumfries and Galloway, it has a large number of traditional musicians living in the area, where various musical events take place throughout the year, including the very popular Folk Festival and the Guitar Festival.
The Guitar Festival will include concerts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday Night. There will also be two open stage concerts for visiting and young local musicians; all day music session in local hotels and various guitar workshops.
Performers will include musicians playing a range of acoustic, blues, folk, country and roots music. The guest list is currently being assembled but so far includes:
Dave Dick - Slide Guitar Workshop
Simon Kempston - Folk fingerstyle guitar/acoustic guitar styles of Richard Thompson and Mark Knopfler.
Jim Byrne - guitar music in songwriting
Plus more to be arranged...
THE GEORGE HOTEL,103 Drumlanrig Street, Thornhill.
Function Room - singers only and in the Public Bar and Lounge Bar - Musicians and Singers.
