WELLINGTON CHURCH INTERNATIONAL CLUB
Draft programme January - June, 2008
Ceilidh in Bowling Friday 25th April
The ceilidh will be in the Railway Inn in Bowling - a little town in Dunbartonshire which is the meeting point for the Forth and Clyde Canal and the River Clyde
To get there we will travel by train so get aboard the train for BOWLING (the destination of the train will be Balloch or Helensburgh).
One leaves Glasgow Queen Street for BOWLING at 18.53, 19.23, 19.53. It should go via Charing Cross, Partick and Hyndland Stations. The journey is about 30 minutes and the cheap day return ticket costs £3.35. Concessions are available to people holding railcards (Young Scot or Seniors). The LAST TRAIN back leaves Bowling at 23.09.
The RAILWAY INN at Bowling - where the ceilidh will be - is, as the name suggests, right at the railway station so we don't have any distance to walk. I've booked a table for 10 people arriving between 7.30pm and 8pm so hope to see you there if not on the train on the way there. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WILL BE COMING SO THAT WE CAN LOOK OUT FOR YOU. I will probably get on the train at Charing Cross and Heather will probably get on at Hyndland.
The menu is reasonably priced with main courses from £5 to £7.95 (baked potato from £3.20 - £4.50) And there are vegetarian options. Sweets are from £2.50 to £3. 25.
There is NO DOOR ENTRY charge for the ceilidh which starts at around 9pm - 9.30pm. We have a special invite from Ken Linklater who is one of the BOWLING HARBOUR CEILIDH BAND players. It is his 25th wedding anniversary that night and he said we're welcome!
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Review of trip on Saturday May 5, 2007
Hallo everyone,
Today we had a lovely time with the International Club visiting New Lanark. We went in two groups and both walked along the banks of the River Clyde to the Falls of Clyde. Then uphill to the hide set up by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds to see a Peregrine on her nest where there is one chick. It was a great day and everyone enjoyed it. We met up at the start at Wellington Church hall around 10am and again in New Lanark when one group was walking back from the bird watch and the other was walking to it. Anne took one car with five people and I had three in my car. There was someone with a third car on standby this morning - sorry I don't know who - but thank you for volunteering and thank you Anne for making such a nice visit possible for so many folk.
Listed below are the other Summer Programme events for the International Club. Anyone from Anywhere of Any Age is welcome to join us. So come along! It is a relaxed way to get to know Glasgow a little and meet new friends.
Sincerely
Grace Franklin (mob 077 14 32 45 87) and Heather McMillan
