"... the best British Art Show I've seen... " Adrian Searle, The Guardian

The British Art Show is widely recognised as the most ambitious and influential exhibition of contemporary British art in the UK. Now in its seventh incarnation, this will be the first time it has come to Glasgow since 1990.

British Art Show 7: In the Days of the Comet takes as its motif the idea of the comet as a harbinger of change, a measure of time and a marker of historical recurrence.

"We are interested in the recurrent nature of the comet as a symbol of how each version of the present collides with the past and the future, and the work of the artists... in many different ways, contest assumptions of how 'the now' might be understood." Lisa Le Feuvre and Tom Morton, Curators

The exhibition encompasses paintings, sculpture, installations, video, film and performance by 39 artists and artists' groups. Many have made works especially for the exhibition and eight artists have been invited to present their work in a programme of one-off performances and screenings.

CCA will present works by Becky Beasley, Alasdair Gray, Christian Marclay, Simon Martin, Nathaniel Mellors, The Otolith Group, Mick Peter, Edgar Schmitz, Wolfgang Tillmans, Phoebe Unwin, Anja Kirschner & David Panos and a performance by Tris Vonna-Michell. Highlights include the UK premiere of The Otolith Group's Hydra Decapita and a 24 hour screening of Marclay's The Clock.
