Torchlight Parade St Andrew’s Day, WEF

Torchlit Walk

The torchlit walk will be open and accessible to all who want to take part, on Saturday, 30 November.

This year there will be more family orientated activity, including parents and grandparents helping kids to make lanterns to use in the parade (guided), Scottish myths and fairytale storytelling, and performances by street theatre artists, such as stilt walkers, glow in the dark juggler and fire art. Plus, facepainting for kids in the Kibble Palace prior to the parade.

All activities re included in the ticket price. paint faces (kids young and old!) in the Kibble Palace prior to the parade forming. All of this activity is included in ticket prices. So excellent value and a great Saturday night out for family and friends.

Liz Scobie, WEF chairman, said: “We’re delighted to once again receive funding from Scotland’s Winter Festivals to mark this special day in Scotland.”

“Ahead of St Andrew’s Day we’ll be doing outreach in local schools and community groups in the wider west end area, conducting workshops and helping young people to develop confidence, imagination and creative skills through craft-making and drama sessions.”

“We hope to build on the event each year with more people taking part and making memories with family and friends.”

Early bird until 20 October – £5 adult torch, £3 for child, family ticket for four £15

From 21 October – £7 adult torch and £4 child, family ticket for four £20

“The West End Festival provides a wide range of events which attracts thousands of visitors to the city. I am sure the St Andrew’s Day torchlight procession will be a spectacular sight as it moves through the west end.”

This evening celebration of Scotland’s patron saint will take the form of a torchlit walk passing through the main parts of the west end using a rolling road closure from Glasgow Botanic Gardens. The rolling closure will mean the roads are safe for the procession to walk but will limit any inconvenience to road users.

Come along and bring along some friends and family members. It always presents a fun evening and of course, some very instagrammable moments!
