The Personal History of David Copperfield, GFT
Friday 24 January – Thursday 6 February
“I think he’s the finest comedian we’ve ever produced. Much comedy today is still conditioned by the way Dickens wrote it in the 19th century.” – Armando Iannucci
Acclaimed Glaswegian filmmaker Armando Iannucci is perhaps best known as the creator of political sitcom The Thick of It and irreverent satire The Death of Stalin, which enjoyed sell-out success at GFT in 2018. Now he’s back and taking on Dickens with his hilarious take on the beloved story of David Copperfield, starring Dev Patel, Tilda Swinton, Hugh Laurie and Peter Capaldi.
