Testimony at GFT
22 – 27 November, 2025
etween 1922 and 1996 10,000+ girls and women were imprisoned in Ireland by The Magdalene Laundries, operated by religious orders with state complicity. Survivors endured forced labour, physical and emotional abuse, and the lifelong stigma of being labelled “fallen.” These Magdalene women and the children of the Mother & Baby Homes might still be shrouded in secrecy and shame, if not for the work of Justice For Magdalenes. This tiny group of women lawyers, academics and volunteers have together waged an extraordinary battle on behalf of the survivors of Irish institutions. This documentary tells their story.
