Global phenomenon Outlander comes to the University of Glasgow this July as they host the world’s first academic Outlander conference, attracting audiences and delegates from all over the world. The Hunterian is delighted to host Outlander: Night at the Museum, an evening exploring and celebrating the time-travelling adventure.
The Outlander literary series is made up of nine thrilling instalments, and tells the tale of a post-Second World War nurse who accidentally time travels to Jacobite Scotland. Outlander became one of the bestselling book series of all time and spawned the globally successful TV series which has triggered huge interest in Scotland and its history.
Come along tdo the Hunterian Museum on the University of Glasgow campus after hours for Night at the Museum to experience the elements that make up the epic tale. Featuring live music, historical re-enactments and various performances to be enjoyed by all the family, come along and experience all things Outlander!
With activity stations hosted by researchers and advisors for the series and a re-enacted battle scene in the Cloisters where Outlander scenes were filmed, this is an evening not to be missed by true fans.

The Outlander academic conference is the first of its kind, attracting audiences and delegates from all over the world. Author Diana Gabaldon headlines the packed programme designed to debate, discuss and celebrate all aspects of the Outlander phenomenon. Through a range of events that will be open to academic researchers and the public, the aim of the Outlander Conference Glasgow 2023 is to further the exchange of information and knowledge surrounding Outlander, both books and TV series, ensuring its far-reaching and long-lasting impact as a remarkable socio-cultural phenomenon.
