A layered, impressionistic portrait of jazz legend Miles Davis
A passion project for multi-talented actor/director Don Cheadle, Miles Ahead strays from conventional ‘biopic’ territory to compose a layered, impressionistic portrait of jazz legend Miles Davis. Cheadle plays Davis and captures his physical look and swaggering attitude to perfection. The film’s core is set in the 1970s with Davis drifting through drug use, medical problems and creative inertia. Journalist Dave Braden (Ewan McGregor) arrives at his door, claiming to be from Rolling Stone to discuss a big comeback that Miles knows nothing of. So begins a freewheeling ‘bitches brew’ of a journey through aspects of Davis’ life and loves, self-destructive urges and creative genius.
