Hannah Rarity at Cottiers (rescheduled)
17 August, 2022
Cottiers, 93 – 95 Hyndland Street, Glasgow G11 5PU
The 2018 winner of the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year contest, singer and songwriter Hannah Rarity, celebrates the release of her eagerly anticipated second album ’To Have You Near’. Combining sublime vocal timbre and uncanny interpretive empathy, which have earned comparisons to Eva Cassidy and Cara Dillon, Rarity has toured internationally with US supergroup Cherish the Ladies as well as appearing with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Blazin’ Fiddles, Rura and Niteworks, alongside her solo work.
She is widely recognised as a flourishing talent, tipped by The Scotsman as ‘One to Watch’ and, more recently, co-musically directing the Opening Concert of Celtic Connections 2022. In a crowded field, Hannah ranks as one of Scotland’s finest young singers, performing a carefully chosen mix of traditional, contemporary and self-penned material.
“Absolutely sensational” BBC Radio Scotland
“…an impeccable combination of nuanced phrasing and power” Folk Radio UK
