GRAY DAY 2026 AT ÒRAN MÓR

gray day oranmor

Wednesday 25 February, 2026, 7.00 p.m.

Òran Mór, Top of Byres Road, G12 8QX

The annual celebration of Alasdair Gray, presented by The Alasdair Gray Archive in partnership with Canongate, honouring one of Scotland’s most visionary and influential writers and artists.

Hosted by the brilliant Josie Long, the evening brings together an outstanding line-up of voices inspired by Gray’s life and work. Featuring contributions from Alan Bissett, Rachelle Atalla, and Alan Cumming, the event will explore Gray’s enduring legacy, his radical imagination, and his continued relevance to contemporary culture.

New Animations

A special highlight of the night will be the premiere of four newly commissioned animations, inspired by the audiobook of Lanark, narrated by Alan Cumming. These original works offer a fresh visual response to Gray’s seminal novel, blending sound, image, and storytelling to reimagine one of the most important books in modern Scottish literature.

Thought-provoking, playful, and deeply creative, this celebration is an invitation to revisit Gray’s work or discover it anew through conversation, performance, and art. A must-attend event for readers, writers, artists, and anyone inspired by bold ideas and imaginative worlds.
