You are warmly invited to attend the ‘Barefoot in Business’ film screening hosted at the University of Strathclyde in conjunction with Scrumptious Productions and the Enterprise Research Centre.
With the 2012 Month of the Women Entrepreneur (MOWE) as its driving force, Barefoot in Business is a feature length, character driven documentary that follows the fortunes of Uganda’s growing band of business women as they defy the statistics and credit restrictions and compete for the prestigious Female Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. Ultimately this is a project that aims to present an alternative and empowering portrait of 21st Century Africa showcasing the work of these inspirational Ugandan entrepreneurs and, hopefully in turn, uniting them with potential customers, investors and business mentors from across Scotland and beyond. This feature length film follows on from the success of Ugandan Women Mean Business on Al Jazeera.
This screening is part of a week long series of events and celebrations across Glasgow and Edinburgh to launch the Barefoot in Business legacy campaign and showcase the work of UWEAL.
The Enterprise Research Centre (ERC) is an independent research centre which conducts policy relevant research on SME growth and development. The University of Strathclyde is a research partner in ERC working specifically on Diversity and SMEs in the Emerging Economy.
