Technicolour Dreams
It is 100 years since the Technicolor Motion Picture Corporation developed the process that introduced vivid colour to the monochrome world of the movies. GFT celebrates this important centenary with a short season of classic films revealing the way a little Technicolor magic could enhance dramatic intensity and emotional impact across all the genres. The season comprises Oscar-winning MGM musical Easter Parade (1948), co-starring Judy Garland and Fred Astaire; Powell and Pressburger’s exquisite dance classic The Red Shoes (1948), photographed by the legendary Jack Cardiff; the glorious Douglas Sirk melodrama All That Heaven Allows (1955), co-starring Jane Wyman and Rock Hudson; and the thrilling Anthony Mann revenge western The Man from Laramie (1955) starring James Stewart which is screening from a stunning 4K restoration that premiered at the 2014 Venice Film Festival.
