The Finest, GFT, 21 – 27 April, 2017

23rd screening cancelled.
GFT, 12 Rose Street, G3 6RB
Lone Scherfig’s (An Education) bittersweet adaptation of Lissa Evans’ novel follows the making of morale-boosting propaganda films during the Second World War. Gemma Arterton shines as Catrin, the Welsh wordsmith hired to add a female perspective to the films. Despite her talent she soon finds herself battling for respect in a male dominated world. Boosted by an excellent ensemble cast including star turns from Bill Nighy and Richard E Grant, Their Finest is a witty, poignant and unexpectedly charming tale from the home front.
