‘Buck is a pampered, proud dog who lives in the house of a judge in San Francisco at the turn of the 20th century. Huge in stature and docile by nature, he proves an easy target for an impoverished gardener with debts to pay. Buck is “dog-napped” and sold into the harsh life of a sled-dog during the tail-end of the Klondike gold rush, learning to pull and running across the open wilds of North America. The brutal awakening of life on the trails turns Buck from a gentle giant to a master of “The Law of Club and Fang.”
Jack London’s 1907 novel was an international publishing sensation and remains his most popularly enduring work. Drawing inspiration from London’s work as a gold prospector, the realities of life that faced both dogs and men are vivid, eye-opening and compelling.’
