Join Garnethill Multicultural for a special screening of their short film. Made with Tricky Hat Productions, the Listening To Our City project is an ongoing Glasgow-based project involving people who have experience of the asylum seeking and refugee process.

Children of Heaven has been selected to screen alongside the short by members of Garnethill Multicultural Centre’s Conversation Cafe – a free weekly event bringing together local residents and new Scots as well as anyone who just wants to improve their conversational English.

Ali is asked to repair the torn shoes of his sister, Zohra, while buying groceries. A garbageman takes them, and a guilt-ridden Ali apologetically offers to share his shoes with her. So Zohra ends up wearing his shoes to morning school, then must race back so that he can put them on to attend afternoon school. To placate her, he even gives her a pen that he received from his teacher after coming first in his class. With the birth of a third child, the family struggles to make ends meet. Their father, who is behind on his rent, does gardening chores, and wants Ali to learn this trade. With the economic situation getting worse, it is only a matter of time until even Ali’s shoes will wear out – bringing out the question: what will the children wear to school then? Children of Heaven was the first Iranian film to be Nominated for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.

Persian with English subtitles. There will be Persian interpretation for the film’s introduction. The short film with be in English.

برای نمایش ویژه فیلم کوتاه شان به مرکز چند فرهنگی گارنتهل بپیوندید. پروژه گوش دادن به شهرمان، که با همکاری تریکی هت پروداکشن ساخته شده، یک پروژه در حال انجام در گلاسگو است که افرادی را در بر می گیرد که دوره پناهجویی و پناهندگی را تجربه کرده اند.

فیلم بچه های آسمان توسط اعضای کافه ی گفتگوی مرکز چند فرهنگی گارنتهل برای نمایش در کنار این فیلم کوتاه انتخاب شده است – این یک رویداد هفتگی رایگان است که ساکنان محلی و تازه واردان به اسکاتلند و همچنین هر کسی را که می خواهد مکالمه انگلیسی خود را بهتر کند، گرد هم می آورد.

از علی خواسته می شود که وقتی برای خرید مواد غذایی به بیرون می رود، کفشهای پاره خواهرش زهرا را نیز تعمیر کند. رفتگری کفشها را می برد و علی که إحساس گناه می کند، با معذرت خواهی به خواهرش پیشنهاد می کند که کفشهایش را با او تقسیم کند. بنابراین زهرا وقتی صبح ها به مدرسه می رفت کفشها را می پوشید و باید با سرعتی زیاد به خانه بر میگشت تا علی که بعد از ظهر به مدرسه می رفت، بتواند کفشها را بپوشد. برای آرام کردن خواهرش حتی خودکاری که بعد از کسب رتبه اول کلاس از معلمش دریافت کرده بود را به او داد. با متولد شدن فرزند سوم، خانواده برای گذران زندگی به مشکل برمی خورند. پدرشان که اجاره خانه اش عقب افتاده، کارهای باغبانی انجام می دهد و می خواهد که علی این حرفه را یاد بگیرد. با بدتر شدن وضعیت اقتصادی، فقط مستله زمان است که حتی کفشهای علی هم کهنه و پاره شوند – و این سوال را پیش می آورد: که در آن صورت بچه ها برای مدرسه رفتن چه بپوشند؟ فیلم بچه های آسمان، اولین فیلم ایرانی بود که نامزد جایزه اسکار بهترین فیلم ویژه بین المللی شد.

فارسی با زیرنویس انگلیسی. برای معرفی فیلم، مترجم فارسی حضور خواهد داشت. فیلم کوتاه به زبان انگلیسی خواهد بود.
