Black History Month 2025

The Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER) co-ordinated the first Black History Month programme in Scotland in 2001, since then Black History Month has gone from strength to strength, with partners across community, voluntary and public sectors contributing dozens of events every October. These include: cinema, exhibitions, radio shows, art, poetry, walking tours, debate, theatre, science and dance.

Scottish Black History Month which encompasses the history of African, Caribbean and Asian people in this country; people who often have a direct link with Scotland through slavery, colonialism and migration. Black History Month focuses on people whose sacrifices, contributions and achievements against a backdrop of racism, inequality and injustice are often forgotten about.
