Campaign to pedestrianize Ashton Lane
Ashton Lane
‘For years the businesses in Ashton Lane have tried in vain to get some sort or traffic calming/ pedestrianisation here, there are three way in and out which makes it impossible if someone comes in from one end and then the other, it’s a totally blocked, also taking into affect that cars park willy nilly wherever they wish in the lane and on the pavements in the and you have a bottleneck daily especially as all venues need deliveries. Last week there was a fire at the Ashoka and it took the fire engine almost half an hour to get the engine into the lane because of the cars parked either side, thankfully this was not an emergency this time, but we hate to think what could happen should there be one with almost ten venues in the lane this could be a major catastrophe should we need to evacuate . We are calling on the council to look at this problem more closely please as it gets worse by the day especially now the new parking rules have come into effect few weeks ago’
