GFT
A boxing match in Brooklyn; life in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina; the daily routine of a Nigerian midwife: these moments create a tapestry of footage collected over the 25 year career of documentary cinematographer Kirsten Johnson. Through a series of episodes that combine documentary, autobiography, and ethical inquiry, Johnson explores the relationships between filmmakers and their subjects. A thoughtful examination of the tension between the objectivity and intervention of the camera, and the complex interaction of unfiltered reality and crafted narrative.
