Headline Act Stephen Watt

Stephen Watt is a poet from Dumbarton. Since 2016 he has been Dumbarton FC’s Poet-in-Residence.  Stephen has produced five collections of his poetry and has edited 2 punk poetry collections on behalf of The Joe Strummer Foundation and Buzzcocks. He was the first “crime poet” to perform at Bloody Scotland Crime Writing Festival and in 2019 he was appointed Makar for the Federation of Writers (Scotland).

Stephen is winner of a number of slam championships including: Poetry Rivals Slam Champion and was awarded the Tartan Treasures award, and the StAnza International Digital Poetry Slam award. Stephen’s  poetry has been included in various anthologies including Ten Writers Telling Lies.

The Wanderlust Women

Will also perform at the Open Mic –The Wanderlust Women are the four poets – Tracy Patrick, Lesley Benzie, Donna Campbell and Linda Jackson.

‘Finding ourselves limited with few or no travelling opportunities during the ongoing Covid Crisis, we began looking back on previous movement in and around our own country and farther afield. We reassessed our own immediate environments and took our imaginations back to expeditions, meetings of minds, dream-travel and forms of travel: train, bus, plane, boat and by foot.’

Other poets and writers will have short slots to add to the entertainment.

Come along to to Balloch Open Mic December 6th, 7pm at Balloch House Hotel. Come and get a slot to read your own poetry or just come along and listen.
