CHILDREN’S CHARITY APPEALS FOR WEST END RUNNERS
TO HAVE A BITE AT MONSTER MARATHON
September sees the return of one of the UK’s leading running events and Action for Children Scotland is appealing to Glasgow’s West end residents to have a bite at this monster marathon.
Voted by readers of Runners World as one of the best marathons in the UK, participants in the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running (Sunday, 29 September) have the opportunity to soak up the breathtaking scenery whilst raising vital funds – and keeping watch for Nessie!
Action for Children Scotland is calling for keen West End runners to put their best foot forward in order to raise money for vulnerable and neglected children, young people and families.
Hilary Canto, fundraiser at Action for Children Scotland, said:
“We run more than 75 services for more than 5,000 of Scotland’s most vulnerable children, young people and their families. These services include family centres, support for those leaving care, fostering, intensive support, short breaks and residential services. We also work children and young people who act as carers and those with a variety of learning needs. We need your support to continue our life changing work.”
“We would like people from Glasgow’s West End who are taking part in the Loch Ness Marathon to consider running in aid of Action for Children Scotland. We will provide a running vest and fundraising pack, and our team will be there on the day to cheer you on!”
“The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running offers something for everyone, from the full 26mile marathon to 5k and 10k runs plus Wee Nessie for pre-school children. By deciding to run in aid of Action for Children, you could make a real difference to vulnerable and neglected children and young people in your area.”
All money raised will help Action for Children provide a wide range of support to children and families across Scotland.
