Donald S Murray is a Scottish novelist, poet, and playwright from Ness in the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. A teacher now living in Shetland, his work includes ‘The Guga Hunters’ (Birlinn), ‘The Guga Stone’ (Luath Press), ‘For the Safety of All’ (Historic Environment Scotland) and the Gaelic play, ‘Sequamur’. His first novel ‘As the Women Lay Dreaming’ (Saraband) won the Paul Torday Award and was shortlisted for other national awards. His poetry pamphlet ‘Achanalt’ – illustrated by Hugh Bryden – won the Callum MacDonald Memorial Award. His new book ‘Red Star Over Hebrides’ is a collection of short stories and poems which will be published by Taproot Press on 23rd June 2023.
