Wildlife Watch at The Saltings: An Introduction to Wildlife Recording
25 July, 2026, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
The Saltings, 11 Erskine Ferry Road, Old Kilpatrick G60 5DF
Come and find out what’s living in The Saltings; you might be surprised!
If you’ve ever looked at something on a walk and thought ‘what is that?’ this is the event for you!
In this session you’ll learn to use an app called iNaturalist to discover and record the natural world. It’s a place where the thing you noticed on your walk becomes part of how scientists understand the world.
Using iNaturalist is simple. Snap a photo of something that’s caught your eye; a flower, an unusual insect, a bird. You submit a photo, the community helps you figure it out, and your observation becomes part of the global record. It’s free, and it’ll change how you see your own neighbourhood.
By the end of the session you’ll have the skills and confidence to carry out regular biological recording wherever you are in the world, helping to build knowledge and support conservation through your observations.
Starts with a short presentation at [venue TBC] where you’ll get to grips with how to use the app. Then head to The Saltings and see what wildlife is waiting to be discovered!
