IAN MACPHERSON From Dublin. ‘Comedy’s answer to James Joyce’ says Arthur Smith. Ian is an award-winning stand-up and a comic novelist. His typing chair features in the photo above.
ABOUT THE POETS
MATTHEW RICE Born in Belfast, lives in Carrickfergus. Selected for Lagan Press’s ‘12NOW’ (New Original Writers) series in Northern Ireland, and named by Eyewear Publishing as one of the Best New British and Irish Poets 2017. His poems were showcased in a reading to mark Poetry Day Ireland, and have been published on both sides of the Atlantic, including in The Asheville Poetry Review and The Honest Ulsterman. Long-listed for the Seamus Heaney Award for New Writing, and short-listed for the FSNI National Poetry Competition, both in 2016. Currently putting together his first collection, ‘Door Left Open’.
STEPHEN WATT From Dumbarton. First Crime Poet at the Bloody Scotland Festival 2016, and currently Dumbarton Football Club’s Poet-In-Residence. A slam champion poet, Stephen’s gothic poetry features on the recently released music EP Neon Poltergeist. His collections are ‘Spit’ (2012) and ‘Optograms’ (2016). His work has been published in Mexico, Germany, Australia, and the USA.
ROSS WILSON is from Fife. His first pamphlet collection, The Heavy Bag, was published by Calder Wood Press. His first full collection will be published by Smokestack Books in 2018. Poems published in many literary magazines. He also contributed to the script of The Happy Lands, an acclaimed award winning feature film in which he was credited as an actor.
MAGI GIBSON lives in Glasgow. Four full length poetry collections including Chapman’s best-selling Wild Women of a Certain Age. Poems in Modern Scottish Women Poets (Canongate), Scottish Love Poems (Canongate), The Edinburgh Book of Twentieth Century Scottish Poetry, (EUP) and many other magazines and anthologies. She won the Scotland on Sunday/Women 2000 Writing Prize. A new collection, Washing Hugh MacDiarmid’s Socks will be published in 2017.
